4. How can we be awakened?

It seems like Buddhism often falls into the same category of traditional or conventional religion due to the fact that Buddha's profound teaching has not been taught properly by some Buddhist monks, and because the majority of followers believe in Buddhism without understanding it correctly. Won't you agree?

Nowadays, thanks to the important role of mass media such as Buddhist Broadcasting, etc. some concerns have been alleviated to a degree but still these days the majority of followers are caught in this kind of untrue belief.

If someone leads the life of religion, he should know true happiness and true freedom so that he can improve himself. However, in many cases it can be observed that such a believer floats along a wrong direction, indulges in it without recognizing it, and finally insists the religion he believes in is the right one.

Since he has a blind faith and is indulged in it, he even refuses to listen to others, and insists that the religion he believes in is the right one. He can never truly learn what true happiness is and what true freedom is, however objectively and easily he is told about them.

It seems to me that he should understand all other religions. Thus, there should be no religion he cannot digest, but that is not true. What can be done in this case?
If and when such a person grasps a clear reason, a true objective, and a firm cause of faith in his religion, he will realize it as: "Oh, my mental level stands only at this level. Then what dimension of my belief do I need to pursue from now on so that I can enjoy the right faith and correct practice and see the obvious results out of them?

Oh, yes! What religion can teach is enlightenment! Then, how can I realize it? Realization by myself could be extremely difficult, and the only way is to meet a great teacher who has already awakened personally. Then I should be able to experience it personally".

When you meet this teaching, you will be able to experience the Truth, in person.
