1. What do we have to search for?
It is frustrating to know that the majority of people who believe in Buddhism do so without fully knowing what it teaches as a religion.
Shakyamuni Buddha did not initially plan to establish a religion. Nevertheless, what he taught us after he was enlightened did become a religion.
After Buddha attained enlightenment, he clearly realized that Mind and that which Mind comprehends(The Three Worlds* or mentally recognized world) are not two different things. Buddha's teachings were bestowed
as a means to lead foolish common beings to a world of wisdom and enlightenment; and thus, his teachings became Buddhism, the religion we know today. Shakyamuni Buddha didn't form an organization in the name of religion to bind the common people together.
Buddha's teachings were not delivered to expand the religion unscrupulously by any means or methods. His objective was to lead the foolish and chaotic mind to wisdom and peace and to let people realize the Truth.
So, the believers of any religion
need to have a clear understanding of what to pursue via the religion. Today, I would like to briefly discuss this issue with many beginners before I move to the next step.
*Three Worlds: the world of common beings is divided into three worlds, world of desire, world of form, and world of thought.
